Spurs' season could hardly have gone worse, only avoiding relegation on the final day after a series of disastrous managerial appointments.

If Thomas Frank was out of his depth in North London, then interim Igor Tudor was drowning as they appeared to be slipping towards relegation. Roberto De Zerbi eventually did enough in the final seven games, ensuring survival at West Ham's expense.

Premier League history

While a member of the so-called 'Big Six', Spurs are without a Premier League title since the competition's inception in 1992, with their two league titles overall placing them joint-12th in the all-time list, level with the likes of Preston, Burnley and Portsmouth.

They have, however, finished in the top six in 14 of the last 20 seasons, so are no strangers to battling in the upper reaches of English football.

Spurs have been busy trying to ensure there is no repeat of a relegation battle this time around, spending more than £200million on Sandro Tonali, Matheus Fernandes, Jan Paul van Hecke, Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Martin Dubravka.

James Maddison and Mohammed Kudus' returns from injury will hand them a boost, but they still look slightly light up front with Dominic Solanke their main striking option and best chance of a Golden Boot winner.

Antonin Kinsky looks set to start in goal, with Van Hecke set to partner Dutch compatriot Mickey van de Ven at the back, as current captain Cristian Romero edges closer to the exit door.

Key Fixtures

Spurs begin the campaign with a short trip to West London to face Brentford, followed by games against Newcastle, Nottingham Forest and Everton.

A difficult four-game run sees them face Aston Villa, Manchester United and Chelsea, with the first North London derby against Arsenal coming in December before they face Liverpool just before Christmas.

They kick off 2027 away at Manchester City, before they host Enzo Maresca's side in a February which also sees them host Liverpool.

Their run-in to end the season looks particularly testing, with Arsenal, Chelsea, Man Utd and Villa among their opponents in the final six games.

Tottenham Premier League prediction

After strengthening this summer and seemingly finding the right manager, albeit De Zerbi is among the favourites to be sacked first, Spurs will surely see an improvement on their previous recent seasons, with a reduced schedule undoubtedly an advantage.

But going from 17th to the top six feels like too big a jump, so we're tipping them to finish just outside those positions in seventh, which should still be enough for European qualification.
