Wuood is a lovely horse who ran a massive race for us last time. He had a bit of a setback but has been long back in training and it has been going well. It doesn’t look like the strongest of events and we would be disappointed if he didn’t run well in it. I think he is my best chance of the day.
Minzazi is a horse who might take a bit of time for the penny to drop. First time out, he was very green and raw. He needed that experience but he’s coming back quickly and I hope that first run stands to him and he will better himself. That said, he did give me the impression that it would take more than one win to get back into the swing of things.
Age Of Baroque has been taking a while for things to come to hand. He is a horse of Jessica Macey’s. I rode a winner for her at Doncaster and she seems to have her string in good form. This lad was second last time in a similar race at Doncaster and all he has to do is improve to go one further and I would hope he can get his head in front.
I ride Golden Long for Lemos De Souza who is very clued in and has his horses in the right sort of races every time. That was the case last time when he won at Newmarket. This race isn’t as competitive as the last race, and it looks like they found the perfect opportunity to defy the rise in the handicap. He won in similar conditions last time which is a huge help considering the current climate. I would fancy his chances. The track isn’t similar to Newmarket but the ground and trip are and on paper he looks like he will be competitive.
I am not so sure about Taradif. He hasn’t shown much form as of late and is by a stallion that is renowned for horses who like a bit of cut in the ground. I am just going on what I see and it looks as though he will have to find improvement if he’s going to be competitive.
If you look at Rajendra’s form on face value he was third last time, but he was third in a three-runner race and well beaten. He looks as though he will have to find a lot of improvement to be competitive in a race like that. He is stepping up to a 1m6f and is on a track which is a lot more forgiving than Lingfield so there are things that should help him. Whether it’s enough, we will find out.
