We start Saturday at Haydock with Wemightakedlongway in the opener. This one is coming over from Ireland and is one of Joseph O'Brien's who came over to Ascot last year. I think this race is set up nicely for her - the trip is perfect, and I wouldn't expect any cut in the ground to affect her. The yard are coming here with good form, too, so I'm looking forward to this one.
Special Dividend is my next of the day, and he's still massively unexposed. He's only had four runs up to this point - he ran well at York last year, finishing third from a wide draw. I think we should see an improvement from the step up in trip, but I still feel as though we'll have to find some luck.
I'm on Brussels in the Sandy Lane Stakes, and this is a high-class sprinter of Aidan O'Brien's - he had a prep run for this at Ascot, where it seems he might have got a little bit tired. He should come on nicely for it though - the yard are in top form and this is a very good sprinter. This one is going to be very competitive, but I think we've got a really good chance and I'd expect him to run a massive race.
Frost At Dawn is another very good sprinter who has course form, winning here exactly a year ago in what was his last appearance at Haydock. His last two runs haven't been great, but he obviously loves this track, and I wouldn't expect any cut in the ground to be a problem for him. I'm hopeful he can find some improvement being back on his preferred track. If he does that, then we could run a big race here.
Almuhit is my next ride of the day - he ran last time at Musselburgh and is a front-running sort who likes to dictate things. He didn't get a chance to do so there, and found the trip a little bit too far on that occasion. But on a track like Haydock, if he can get out and dictate, he will be extremely competitive in this one.
Noble Vow won really well last time at Bath. He's back in a handicap here, but we always thought he was competitive. Five furlongs is perfect for him, and the soft ground shouldn't affect him too much. I'm hopeful we can see him run another good race here.
And then I finish the day with Tilted Kilt for William Knight, who is always very good when it comes to handicaps. He always finds the right races for his horses, and I'm hoping this lad can find the form he had a couple of starts ago. He's a good genuine sort who should run well.Â
