He is a horse who works extremely well at home. We have always liked him, and he just hasn’t translated his homework onto the racecourse. We would be hoping he can be very competitive if he puts his best foot forward. He is consistent without getting his head in front so we will be hoping he can do that on this occasion.
Special Dividend – 3.45pm Carlisle
This is a horse I was supposed to ride at Haydock before it was called off. Jamie (Insole) had him lined up to run a really big race there, so we just bring it a week forward to a different track. This track shouldn’t inconvenience him. He is on a fact-finding mission, but he is doing everything well at home.
St Anton was due to run in the Silver Bowl at Haydock as well before it was called off. But to be fair the ground was probably against him there anyway. The team have opted to run him in a lesser handicap where he will probably carry top weight. We are hoping he is good enough to go there, get his head in front, and go up the ratings to give him a fighting chance of getting into a race at Royal Ascot like the Brittania Stakes. I think he is my best chance of the day.
Eupator – 5.28pm Carlisle
Eupator is a horse that came into himself at the end of winter and got his head in front on three occasions where he was very well treated off his mark. We always thought he could find a bit more improvement switching to the turf. He is a forward going horse who stays quite well. The trip is not an issue, and he is versatile ground wise. We are always looking for that improvement and we hope he finds it on turf.
