Erling Haaland to score in Man City vs Bournemouth

Manchester City kick off their Premier League season with a home clash against Marco Rose's Bournemouth, and we're tipping Erling Haaland to open his account for the new campaign.

The runaway Golden Boot favourite, Haaland has actually scored in all four of his opening-day appearances for City since his move in 2022, and is odds-on to repeat the feat against the Cherries this weekend.

The big Norwegian didn't cause Arsenal too many problems in the Community Shield last week, but with three goals in his last two games against Bournemouth, he looks excellently placed to start the season as he means to go on.

The Cherries have conceded 34 goals in just nine Premier League visits to the Etihad, so goals are definitely to be expected - and where goals are found, Erling Haaland is never too far away.

Alexander Isak to score in Newcastle vs Liverpool

Sunday's Premier League action is headlined by a blockbuster at St. James' Park, as Newcastle United welcome Andoni Iraola's Liverpool to the north-east - and we're tipping Alexander Isak to haunt his former club.

This fixture produced one of the games of the season last time out, and with Isak looking sharp in pre-season, you can certainly forgive Newcastle fans for fearing the worst ahead of this one.

The Swedish striker didn't live up to expectations in his debut campaign as a Liverpool player, but with his injury problems behind him (for now) and a return to familiar surroundings so often bringing the best out of players, the bookies have priced him as the favourite to score at St. James' Park.

It would be another bruising blow in what has been a painful summer for Newcastle fans, but as he seeks a third 20-goal season in four years, we're backing Isak to find the net on the opening day.

Anthony Gordon to score in Elche vs Barcelona

Another former Newcastle man who we're backing to get on the scoresheet this weekend is Anthony Gordon, who will make his La Liga debut when Barcelona face Elche on Sunday evening.

The England international may have missed a late penalty in their last pre-season outing, but after a prolific 2025/26 - and a World Cup semi-final goal - he looks ready to show his class in Spain.

Fellow Englishman Marcus Rashford scored home and away against Elche last season, and with Barcelona having scored 13 times in their last four meetings with Los Franjiverdes, we're expecting a few chances to fall Gordon's way - even if he does only appear as a substitute.

A goal would be the perfect way for the 25-year-old to begin his Barca career, and if he carries his 2025/26 average of a shot on target per 90 into the new term, then he's giving himself every chance - so Anthony Gordon to score is our third and final pick.
