John Stones next club odds: Everton return on cards but Chelsea also keen

Stones made five appearances as England finished third at the 2026 World Cup but is currently without a club after his City contract expired, making him a potentially shrewd free signing.

The centre-back left Everton to join Man City for £50million in 2016 - and now 10 years and countless trophies later, an emotional return to Merseyside could be on the cards, if the latest odds are anything to go by.

Ladbrokes currently have the Toffees as the favourites, although a move to Premier League rivals Chelsea and European heavyweights Bayern cannot be counted out.

Chelsea are hoping to add more experience to their side under Xabi Alonso this season and Stones, with 257 top-flight appearances and 94 international caps, would undoubtedly provide that.

But having spent the entirety of his career in England, a move to Germany may also appeal, with Bayern given the same odds as Chelsea at this stage.

Premier League champions Arsenal are joint-fourth in the race, with an injury to William Saliba seeing the Gunners enter the market for defensive reinforcements.

Mikel Arteta's men are alongside Inter Milan in the market, with AC Milan, Juventus and Napoli also among the long list of Serie A suitors.

Newcastle are also considered an outside contender, just ahead of Aston Villa should the six-time Premier League winner opt to remain in England.

The only other potential option for Stones is said to be a move to the United States, with a switch to any MLS club considered an outside chance.
